Sony VPL-BW7 3 LCD Digital projector

Sony VPL-BW7 3 LCD Digital projector Reviews

More Picture

I bought this projector last night and I am really enjoying it. Picture quality is good and sharp.
I projected this on my apartment wall without any screen, even then quality is good and enjoying movies and tv in big screen.
This has HDMI input which is giving good quality of output.
Only drawback is it does not have audio, but I connected this to my home theater speakers and liking it.
I will post some videos/pics soon.

Nothing Special - Express -
This projector replaced my 5 year old InFocus ScreenPlay 4805, and after using it for a month, I don't consider it an upgrade.
I have a dedicated theater with 3 level seating, and was waiting for a great deal on a 1080p as a replacement for the 4805 - but I got this Sony for a 'fantastic' price, not too much more than the lamp replacement would have been for the 4805 (The Sony was not anywhere near the list price)- the lamp may have been a better choice.

The picture is flat and dull compared to the 480p ScreenPlay - I don't feel any 'Pop' or 'Wow' from the picture - guess LCD has not made as much ground on DLP as I had expected.
It is much louder than I hoped it would be, just about as noisy as the ScreenPlay.
When I bought this I thought it would get me by another 2-4 years, now I'm hoping for as little time as possible with this unit, and for a similar 'steal' of a price on a better projector.
On the positives.
It has a bright picture (too bright on low in my Theater, needed much further dimming).
The connectivity is decent- the DSub/VGA connector is nice, and comes with a component to DSub cable - allowing you to connect it to most anything with the Composite, HDMI, and DSub inputs.
I've got it hooked up with a 30' HDMI cable - the picture is much better over HDMI than the DSUB.
It might make an OK 'portable' projector - but it is large.
